Resveratrol: The Best (Easy) Medicine For Anti-Aging

Published by admin under Uncategorized

You’ve Heard Red Wine’s Good For You? Here’s Why

Years ago, researchers from Harvard Medical School (and others) found an impressive nutrient with the power to fight aging, improve cardio-vascular and neurologic health, and help the human body battle everything from fatigue to disease. It’s called “resveratrol,” and it’s the ingredient in red wine that you’ve heard so much talk about lately.

How does it work?

Well, Father Time is wreaking havoc on your body, all the time. As you grow older (especially if you can manage to do it in our modern fast-food-and-TV societies), your body is bombarded by toxins of all sorts, from airborne and food-borne toxins to the stuff your fluorescent lights are putting out that’s slowly killing your brain. The bad stuff attacks your cells, and literally starts tearing them apart. You’ve heard the term “free radical,” right? Those are particles torn from your cells that are floating around inside you, looking to attach themselves to healthy cells (and thereby making those cells UN-healthy in short order). Even if you lived a brilliantly clean life (and you don’t), this would happen anyway… your cells just break down over time. The technical term for this is “oxidation,” and you know it as “gettin’ old.”

To fight the oxidation of their cells – from both natural aging and the more unnatural aspects of life in 2011 – people buy and consume mass quantities of “anti-oxidants.” Not enough people do this, of course, and you can almost see it in the color of their hair and the wrinkles in their skin. Anti-oxidants are VERY important, and should be one of the centerpieces of your daily supplement regimen. They work to help your body repair those damaged cells, safely eliminate those free radicals, and resist further damage. Think of anti-oxidants as the Health Patrol in your body, running around fixing and protecting you at the cellular level… and foiling the attacks of Father Time.

And one of the best anti-oxidants (if not THE best) is resveratrol.

That’s why many researchers are saying that, not only will a glass or two of red wine every day not kill you, it would be good for you. You actually get a tiny benefit from the alcohol (as long as you don’t overdo it), because it helps clean your blood and reduce your bad cholesterol. But the big bennies come from the resveratrol, the commanding general of that Health Patrol we talked about. Resveratrol, in the right concentration, literally turns on human genes that order your cells to fix themselves.

The trouble is, you’d have to drink hundreds of glasses of wine every day to get resveratrol in the “right concentration” to activate those genes. Here’s a hint: don’t do that. One day like that, and you’re off the planet… not to mention that, while drunkenness of any kind is horrible for you, red wine produces a particularly mean and unpleasant kind of hangover that you just don’t want. Or so somebody told me. Even slightly over-doing it, over time, can make you fat and lazy. Wine does contain sugar, after all, and sugar’s just not all that great for your body.

So many companies are putting out resveratrol supplements, and if you haven’t added such a supplement to your daily health regimen, you should. Is it the very best medicine for anti-aging? No, highly-expensive clinical gene therapy is probably better. But for the average person, resveratrol is the best “available” medicine to help your body fight the clock.

When choosing a resveratrol supplement, there are a few things you need to look for. First, don’t just cheap out. The quality, potency, and safety of resveratrol supplements varies greatly, and you don’t want to get what’s cheap if it isn’t good. You want to make sure the product you buy is safe: the nutrient should be high-quality, harvested from a location where they care about things like purity and human rights, tested to be free of agricultural chemicals, and manufactured in a safe (inspected) facility. And if you can, get an activated liquid product for optimal delivery of the nutrient to your cells (resveratrol is only moderately absorbed from the human gut).

I use just such a resveratrol supplement that mimics the wine I love to drink (but shouldn’t drink as much of as I sometimes have!). It even comes in a wine bottle, and I can mix just a little bit of it with water to make a glass of “fake wine” that’s REALLY good for me. I’ve been focusing on using it daily for a few days now, and I can really feel the difference in my energy level. And Friend Wife even told me this weekend that my face looks… younger!

I recommend resveratrol, taken in the right concentration with a healthy dose of the other thing that fights aging: optimism. Sure, the world is trying to make you old quickly these days, and you have to contend with everything from taking care of your business in your day job to dealing with the effects of a crumbling global economy. And do you really want to rely on government health care? But things will get better. For one thing, after a regimen of anti-oxidants such as resveratrol, you’ll be “younger” next month! You’ll have more energy to do battle with the challenges in your life. In short, your life improves as YOU take personal responsibility to improve yourself. And a strong commitment to daily health habits, such as consistent use of the miracle of resveratrol, will literally make you better every day.

Why Stainless Steel Is the Most Popular Material for a Cookware Set

Published by admin under Uncategorized

If you love the adventures of cooking, you would put high importance to a technically superior quality cookware set on top of the aesthetic purpose. It probably is every cook’s ultimate passion. In addition, you truly would find the color, sizes and styles of the pots very motivating.

An important factor to consider in buying a good quality cookware set is the kind of material it is constructed from. There are various cookware materials from which you can choose from, but considering the most popular cookware used in USA and around the globe, is the stainless steel.

This material is the known non-reactive metal. It is called stainless for it is a “highly stain resistant” material. The principal elements in stainless that can affect health are iron, chromium and nickel. Iron is known very beneficial. Chromium is also beneficial in small quantities. Although nickel is toxic in large quantities, merely trace amounts go into the food which is not enough to make a difference. The chromium content is what generally prevents corrosion. It aids to put off combination of its metal contents with oxygen and water to form rust. Nickel works with chromium to increase resistance to rusting and corrosion of metal.

Many cooks prefer a stainless steel cookware for its efficiency in browning, searing meats, and deglazing. Foods stuck in oils left in the pan’s bottom can create classical sauces when poured with liquids, like wine or broth to loosen the fond from the pan. Being least reactive, stainless steel will not affect the flavor in food as it does not react with acidic foods during cooking, and its hygienic flat and no-pores surface is very easy to clean, making it ideal for preparing food.

One thing to remember in choosing stainless steel is its poor ability to conduct heat well. Look for the medium to heavy weight, or thick-layered bottom pots and pans to ensure better heat conduction. Copper and aluminum are very capable conductors of heat providing more even heat distribution than stainless steel alone would. So, the next time you shop for a stainless steel cookware, don’t forget to think about one that is made with copper or aluminum.

No matter what material your range of saucepans, stockpots, and saute pans are made from, proper care is still what it needs to make your investment to last for years. If you choose a stainless steel cookware for its affordability, the key to make it work like among the most expensive ones, is to cut back a little on expectations, believe in your cookware and trust your cooking. After all, it is what has made stainless steel cookware the most trusted cookware around the world.

Natural Resveratrol Sources – Find Out About Them

Published by admin under Uncategorized

It’s a wise decision to look for resveratrol sources because the benefits you get by using it are great. As you will find out in this article there are some good sources and some great sources. You should always try to take care of your body and if you can do that by using natural substances that’s great.

What’s so good about it?
As we know cancer is caused by substances like free radicals. One of the best ways of fighting free radicals is with the help of antioxidants. And that’s exactly what resveratrol is, an antioxidant. I rather die a natural death than die from cancer.

Resveratrol is found in?
You will find it in berries like cranberries and blueberries but the level found in those sources are not high enough. But they are worth consuming anyway since they contain a lot of other healthy substance and also other antioxidants.

0.24mg to 1.24 of resveratrol can be found in a cup of red grapes which makes it a good source. An even better one is the drink that you get from red grapes. Of course I’m talking about red wine. Red wine contains about 10 mg per liter. I guess you have heard that it might be a good idea to drink wine but maybe you never knew why. You need to be careful though, since it red wine also contains alcohol and too much too often might lead to an addiction. You shouldn’t consume more than 1-2 glasses per day but unfortunately that’s not enough to get the desired effect from resveratrol.

I think it’s better to use the other sources described above. A lot of studies have been done on resveratrol and all the researchers agree that there are many health benefits but they all use a concentrated supplement as source. So supplement has to be considered as the best source.

What I use
When I first found about this it I started to search for resveratrol sources. The first couple of weeks of having this new knowledge I practically only ate berries and grapes to reach the recommended dosage of resveratrol. You can imagine how often I went to the bathroom.

I later discovered a great nutrition supplement that had the exact level. What I really like about my discovery is that it also contains vitamins, minerals and 70 other healthy substances. Believe me, I have done a lot of researching to find a great product and it is by far the best I have found.

I will tell you more about it on my web site.

Polyphenols in Red Wine Shown to Lower the Risk of Stroke

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Alcohol Consumption and Its Effect on the Risk of Stroke

Consumption of ethanol – the type of alcohol present in alcoholic beverages – in small doses has been linked to several health benefits such as lower risk of diabetes and heart disease. In a study conducted by the Danish Epidemiology Science Center at the Institute of Preventive Medicine at Copenhagen University Hospital and the Department of Neurology at Bispebjerg University in Denmark; investigators set out to compare the effects of ethanol and other compounds present in commonly consumed alcoholic beverages such as beer, wine, and other liquors to find their effects in relation to the risk of stroke.

Only Intake of Wine Lowered the Risk of Stroke

Over 10,000 men and women between the ages of 45 and 84 participated in the Copenhagen City Heart Study over a 16 year period, during which 833 strokes were observed. The relationship of multiple variables were analyzed and the researchers found indications that only the participants who were administered red wine showed a lower risk of stroke, compared to the participants that did not consume any wine at all. These results were found among participants who consumed wine in a daily, weekly, or even monthly basis. In addition, consumption of beer or other spirits made no difference in the risk of stroke.

Red Wine Polyphenols can Lower the Risk of Stroke

The study also concluded that the polyphenols, antioxidant and flavonoid compounds found in red wine are responsible for the protective effects on stroke risk. Among these chemicals, Resveratrol has been linked to having cardioprotective and chemoprotective effects. All of these compounds are found in higher concentrations in red wines rather than white or blush wines. Because wine is sipped slowly and even swished around in the mouth while drinking to appreciate its flavor, many of the nutrients are absorbed through the mucous membranes in the mouth delivering the compounds directly to the bloodstream and bypassing the digestive process. However, continued consumption of alcoholic beverages may lead to liver and sugar metabolism problems due to their sugar and alcohol content.

Resveratrol Supplements as Suitable Alternative to Red Wine Consumption

Dietary supplements containing the antioxidant compound resveratrol can be readily obtained in the marketplace. However, most of these supplements come in the form of pills or capsules, which are quickly metabolized and eliminated upon ingestion. Buccal delivery resveratrol tablets or melts are a better alternative, since they are designed to be absorbed through the mouth’s tissue and bypassing the liver. This produces greater bioavailability of the resveratrol polyphenol in the blood stream, maximizing it health benefits.
